Wellington Square neighbors gathered on Saturday, June 20, for an afternoon of food, conversation, and community at our neighborhood block party and General Body Meeting.

Held in the Buckingham Road cul-de-sac south of 23rd Street, the event brought together an estimated 100 neighbors for a barbecue, an opportunity to reconnect, and updates on the work of the Wellington Square Improvement Association (WSIA).

A Visit from Our Community Leaders

Los Angeles City Councilmember Heather Hutt joined the celebration, offering words of encouragement and recognizing the neighborhood's efforts to strengthen community engagement.

LAPD Senior Lead Officer Hector Marquez and other officers serving our area also attended, spending time meeting residents and discussing neighborhood concerns.

Celebrating Our Progress

During a brief General Body Meeting, WSIA President Steve Davis shared updates on the work accomplished by our committees since March.

Highlights included the restoration of our historic neighborhood monuments, progress on Wellington Square's HPOZ preservation guidelines, new beautification and safety initiatives, improvements to neighborhood communications, and ongoing efforts to resolve the trash enclosure issues at 1909 Buckingham Road.

Neighbors also received a summary of WSIA's finances and information about reporting concerns to the LAPD.

Made Possible by Our Neighbors

The afternoon was a wonderful example of what happens when neighbors pitch in. Block captains and residents contributed food, desserts, drinks, supplies, and their time to help make the gathering a success.

From setting up to cleaning up, the event reflected the spirit of cooperation and community involvement that residents called for at our March kickoff meeting.

Thank You, Wellington Square!

A special thank-you to our Social Committee, block captains, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to the celebration.

We're looking forward to more opportunities to come together, share ideas, and continue making Wellington Square a wonderful place to call home.

Together, we're making great things happen in Wellington Square!
